CHINESE MEDICINE AND ACUPUNCTURE FOR CANCER care

Standard medical care for cancer is effective. However, those treatments are aggressive. They cause many unwanted side effects and reduce the immunity. Chinese medicine and Acupuncture have been used as an ancillary therapy in cancer treatments for pain relief, speeding up recovery, reducing side effects and improving immunity.

BENEFITS OF CHINESE MEDICINE AND ACUPUNCTURE FOR CANCER CARE

Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture can soothe many of the side effects that come up during and after chemotherapy, radiation, biological therapy and surgery. Below listed the main benefits of Chinese medicine and acupuncture for patients with cancer treatments:

Relieve Nausea
According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), there is strong evidence that acupuncture can relieve the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. While some oncologists stress to avoid acupuncture after chemotherapy due to an increased risk of infection, acupuncture can be done prior a chemotherapy session to prevent nausea.

Reduce Pain, Depression & Anxiety
Acupuncture aligns and relaxes Qi as well as balances Yin and Yang, which would reduce the pain, depression and anxiety from cancer treatment. Patients have a lessened need for pain medications to control Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Improve sleep
People with cancer who undergo acupuncture have an improvement in their quality of sleep.

Enhance immune system
Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture have a positive effect on the immune system of people with cancer. After the therapy, there is a great increase in the formation rate of Erythrocyte resetting and Lymphocyte Transformation. The total number of T Lymphocytes increases and the macrophage phagocytosis rises. In some cases, Western doctor would stop the Chemotherapy to patients with low white blood cell levels. Nowadays in Hong Kong and Mainland China, patients take Chinese medicine and, at the same time receiving Chemotherapy. There was evidence showing that patients are able to receive Chemotherapy, without their white blood cell levels dropping to a dangerous level.
